Miles Herbert is a professional photographer based in Bournemouth, Dorset and owner of CaptiveLight Photography Workshops who specialise in organising photo days, courses and workshops for photographers of all abilities.

“I got bitten by the photography bug at the tender age of 7 when my father (who once worked for Kodak) gave me a Kodak Brownie 127 III for my birthday and a couple of rolls of film which started a lifelong passion and fascination with photography. By 12 I was using a Pentax K1000 SLR and went through a string of Pentax cameras before switching to a Nikon FE and ultimately a Nikon F100 as a freelance photographer.

At around the same time that Digital Photography began to really take off I found myself doing a lot of freelance work for certain “Law Enforcement” people using a little known piece of software called Photoshop to enhance images.

I made the crossover to digital with a pair of Nikon 70D’s and never looked back, although I did make the switch to Canon equipment shortly after. Over the years I have sold many pictures all over the world with sales in the USA, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia and Asia. Pictures have been used in magazine publications, books, newspapers, as well as advertising, educational material and more recently digital uses including information touchscreens and the internet.

I have been lucky enough to earn a decent living from my cameras over the years and am only too happy to pass on some of my knowledge and experience to people who are just starting their own journey into photography”
